A midweek evening on the second Wednesday every month in Old Amersham, a thoughtful book, a glass of prosecco, and easy conversation around the table at UNDICI. So, put 9 September in your diary.

Midweek plans, sorted.

There’s something really lovely happening on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 pm at our Italian wine bar and bookshop in Old Amersham, and if you’re into good books and even better wine, this one’s worth knowing about.

At UNDICI, their monthly Book Club brings together a small group of people for a relaxed evening of conversation, stories, and a glass of something nice in hand.

This month we’ll be discussing The Correspondent by Virginia Evans — a warm, thoughtful novel told through the letters and emails of Sybil Van Antwerp, a fiercely independent woman in her seventies whose correspondence gradually reveals the story of her life.

Through the messages she exchanges with family, friends, authors and even people she has never met, we begin to uncover her relationships, regrets, losses and the things she has left unsaid. What starts as an intimate portrait of one woman becomes a moving exploration of friendship, family, grief, forgiveness and our need to connect with others.

Witty, tender and quietly absorbing, it’s exactly the kind of book that lends itself to a great discussion — about the relationships we maintain, the ones we lose, and whether it’s ever too late to change the way we understand ourselves and the people around us.

No pressure, no formalities. Just a table, a book, and a really easy, welcoming atmosphere, whether it’s your first time or you’ve been before.

Tickets: £12.5 per person
Includes a glass of Prosecco on arrival.

Additional wines and books will be available to purchase on the night.

Spaces are limited, and booking is recommended.

If you love books, conversation and a great atmosphere, this could be your new favourite monthly ritual in Old Amersham.
