Set in one of Old Amersham’s most historic buildings, The Wine Place blends relaxed wine culture, small plates and an atmosphere that makes it very easy to stay longer than planned.
There’s something quietly changing in Old Amersham’s food and wine scene, and The Wine Place is a big part of it.
Set in the historic former Gilbey’s building on Market Square, this independent wine bar and shop has quickly become one of those places people recommend to each other almost immediately after visiting.
The idea is refreshingly simple: really good wines, small plates designed to go with them properly, relaxed tastings, and an atmosphere that feels calm and welcoming rather than intimidating. Whether you know your wine well or just enjoy discovering something new, it’s the kind of place that makes the whole experience feel easy.
Alongside wines to drink in or take home, The Wine Place also hosts regular tastings, pairings, and evening events, adding another lovely layer to Old Amersham’s growing independent hospitality scene.
It’s adult-focused, relaxed, and thoughtfully done, somewhere to settle in for a slower evening rather than rush through.
Another lovely reason to spend time in Old Amersham.
