Experience Chiltern Open Air Museum after dark on 30 October, with spectacular fire performances, spooky storytelling, woodland walks, live music and Halloween fun for the whole family.

There’s something rather magical about exploring historic buildings after dark. Add flickering firelight, mysterious shadows and a few unexpected visitors lurking in the woods, and you’ve got the perfect setting for a Halloween adventure.

On Friday 30 October, Chiltern Open Air Museum is bringing back its popular Halloween Spectacular, transforming the museum into a wonderfully atmospheric world of spooky surprises, live entertainment and family-friendly fun.

As darkness falls, wander between the museum’s historic buildings, beautifully transformed with eerie lighting and Halloween decorations. Along the way, you’ll encounter spooky horses, enjoy spine-tingling storytelling and discover plenty of unexpected surprises hiding around the grounds.

There’ll be spectacular fire performances, live music to dance along to and creepy crafts for those feeling creative. And when it’s time to warm up, gather around the bonfire and toast marshmallows — surely one of the best parts of an autumn evening.

For those feeling particularly brave, there’s a scary woodland walk, where you might want to keep an eye on what’s lurking in the shadows. Recommended for ages 12 and over, it’s not for the faint-hearted!

But don’t worry if you’d rather keep things a little less frightening. There’s also a not-so-spooky walk suitable for all ages, making this a lovely Halloween outing for families with younger children too.

With so much happening across the museum, it’s the kind of evening where you can simply wander, explore and enjoy the atmosphere at your own pace.

And being just a short journey from Amersham, it’s a wonderful excuse to wrap up warm, gather the family and head out for a little Halloween magic.
