A traditional pub and hotel just a stone’s throw from the Old Town's High Street.

The Saracen’s Head Inn is steeped in history and character and was built using timbers from old ships. The building surrounds a central courtyard which was originally a travellers’ coaching inn. It was built in 1530 at Number 38 Whielden Street, which was formerly known as Union Street when Amersham Hospital was known as The Workhouse. And rumour has it, two ghosts roam the building, one is alleged to be a young serving wench from the 17th Century, and the other one remains a mystery…The Saracens Head Inn is situated just a stone’s throw away from the fashionable shops and boutiques in the High Street of Amersham Old Town.

We believe that a pub should be a friendly relaxing place to enjoy a drink with friends and strangers and to eat good honest, unpretentious food. The bar is traditionally styled with large exposed beams and has a lovely large open-log fireplace. We serve a good selection of real ales, beers, gin and an extensive range of wines from around the world. Seating is available in our courtyard with extensive additional seating in our lovely rear garden and marquee. Our in-house chef uses the best and where possible local suppliers for the ingredients. All food is freshly prepared and cooked daily. We have an extensive menu along with a daily specials board and our famous Sunday Roasts.

We believe the combination of traditional food and relaxed ambience makes The Saracens Head Inn a truly traditional English pub. We can cater for Wakes and Private Functions for up to 70 people. We also have a large marquee, courtyard and garden. We also show BT and Sky Sports. Legoland, The Harry Potter Studios and central London are all within easy reach. The pub is also home to 11 bedrooms: 2 doubles, 7 twins and 2 singles all with en-suite facilities. All rooms have their own TV, tea and coffee-making facility and free WiFi. A delicious cooked breakfast is available in the morning. Rooms are tastefully furnished in keeping with the tradition of the pub. The ground-floor accommodation overlooks either the courtyard or the garden.
