Explore Old Amersham through its food, history and local characters with the newly launched Amersham Food Tours, created by acclaimed food writers Kate Morris and Sally Brown.

There’s a new way to experience Old Amersham, and it starts with a good story.

Local food writers and television creatives Kate Morris and Sally Brown have launched Amersham Food Tours, a series of guided walking experiences that celebrate the town’s fascinating history, independent food scene and the people behind it.

After more than 20 years inspiring families to cook, eat and enjoy food together, including writing four cookbooks and creating two BBC television formats, the pair are now turning their attention to the place they know and love most.

Their first tour, Pigs and Perfume, invites visitors to explore Old Amersham through the lens of food.

Along the way, you’ll discover how Amersham grew from a thriving market town into an important coaching stop, where food and hospitality have welcomed travellers for centuries. You’ll meet local restaurateurs and producers, hear the stories behind independent businesses, and uncover the rich heritage that continues to shape the town’s food scene today.

The tour also brings Amersham’s story right up to the present day, introducing some of the people keeping those traditions alive, from historic coaching inns serving locally sourced ingredients to producers whose sustainably farmed chalk stream trout now appear on menus across the town.

It’s more than a food tour. It’s a chance to see Old Amersham from a different perspective, discovering the places, flavours and stories that make it such a special place to visit.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have lived nearby for years, chances are you’ll come away having learnt something new.

A wonderful new addition to Amersham’s visitor experience, and another great reason to spend a day exploring our historic town.
