Four Sunday afternoons in June, live classical music, and a beautifully simple way to spend time in Amersham.

Sunday afternoons, live classical music, and a very lovely reason to spend a little more time in Amersham.

Woodside Summer Recitals are returning to Amersham Free Church, bringing a series of relaxed one-hour classical concerts right into the heart of Amersham, and everyone is welcome.

Across June, five Sunday afternoon concerts will fill the space with music from composers we all know and love, including Bach, Brahms, Fauré, Weber and Beethoven, performed by a mix of world-class artists, ensembles, and a rising star string quartet fresh from the Royal College of Music.

This year opens with something a little different.

The first concert is a family-friendly programme, “Dance Fantastique”, bringing together everything from Cinderella and Swan Lake to Latin tangos, Taylor Swift and even Baby Shark. It’s designed to be fun, engaging, and a really easy introduction to live music for younger audiences.

There’s also a lovely local touch running through the series, with a Young Composers Competition involving local schools. The winning piece will be performed live at the opening concert, which makes the whole thing feel even more connected to the community.

All concerts take place on Sunday afternoons at 4pm, making them an easy addition to your weekend plans, whether you’re coming for the music itself or building a slower afternoon around it.

Tickets are available now via the Woodside Summer Recitals website, including a season ticket offer (4 concerts for the price of 3) if you’re tempted to come back more than once.

A simple, inspiring way to spend time locally this June.

Booking is recommended via the Woodside Summer Recitals website.
