Plan to visit Amersham Museum to see its temporary exhibition from Saturday 1 March 2025 to Sunday 27 July 2025!

Amersham Museum reopens its doors for a new season with an exciting exhibition exploring the deep and lasting relationship between the town and its surrounding countryside. For centuries, the landscape has been shaped by those who live and work on it—farmers carving out fields and hedgerows, travellers and drovers forging footpaths, and local industries drawing from the land’s natural resources.

From the grandeur of Shardeloes estate to the modern-day impact of HS2’s construction, Amersham’s countryside has continually evolved. The land has provided raw materials for building, furniture-making, brewing, and cottage industries, while also sustaining local trades such as butchery, dairy farming, and watercress growing.

This fascinating exhibition brings these stories to life through a rich collection of objects, film, and images. Discover the tools and traditions that link town and country—horseshoes and hunting jackets, egg sorters and toy farm animals—and uncover how Amersham’s landscape has been shaped by its people.
